What Is Chevy Safety Assist?

Chevrolet has been developing and releasing an array of new technologies in recent years that make your drives safer and easier. A highlight of these innovative offerings is Chevy Safety Assist. If you don’t know what this product is, we’re happy to explain.

Chevrolet Safety Assist is actually a bundle of multiple features sold together. This package combines the six most essential driving tools that today’s drivers should have. These systems ensure you’re fully aware of your surroundings on the road and have the ability to brake and swerve to avoid accidents.

These are the driver-assist technology features included in Chevy Safety Assist:

  • Forward Collision Alert: Will sound an alarm if your vehicle is approaching a car ahead of you too quickly and a collision may occur.
  • Automatic Emergency Braking: Works with Forward Collision Alert to apply the brakes if you’re not slowing down to avoid a front-end collision.
  • Front Pedestrian Braking: Monitors for people walking in front of your car and will apply the brakes so ensure you don’t hit them.
  • Following Distance Indicator: Will let you know if you’re tailing the car in front of you too closely and don’t have enough space if they brake suddenly.
  • Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning: Monitors your car’s position in the lane and alerts you if you drift over the line.
  • Intellibeam® Auto High Beam Assist: Helps you see better in the dark by activating the high-beam headlamps when needed, yet dimming them when an oncoming vehicle approaches.

Until now, Chevrolet had released these safety technologies as components of the Driver’s Confidence Packages I & II. Going forward, these vital tools will be more widely available through Chevy Safety Assist, especially come the 2023 model year.

You’ll find Chevy Safety Assist included as standard on the Chevrolet Equinox and Chevrolet Trailblazer, and it will soon be available on other family SUVs and sedans in Ruston, Louisiana. To test Chevy Safety Assist for yourself, come to Courtesy Chevrolet Buick GMC.
