Mid-Engine 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Earns Title of MotorTrend Car of the Year

Few automotive awards are as prestigious or difficult to achieve as MotorTrend Car of the Year. Yet, the redesigned 2020 Chevrolet Corvette has managed to add this title to its growing list of accolades.

During a special event at MotorTrend’s Los Angeles headquarters, the 2020 Corvette was awarded the title of Car of the Year.

The judges found plenty to love within the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette. One of the most notable changes to the Corvette that caught the judges’ attention was the introduction of its mid-engine powertrain setup. Thanks to this new engine configuration, the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette can race from zero-60 mph in a mere 2.8 seconds.

MotorTrend noted that while the stylings and amenities of the interior were opulent, most of these features also managed to be quite practical during everyday drives. Couple that interior with a refreshed, sporty exterior, and the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette is a winner inside and out.

2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV Range Increases by 21 Miles

The Chevy Bolt has already impressed drivers and critics worldwide with its amazing range, but the 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV range has reached new heights — or, distances.

Increasing by 21 miles over the outgoing Bolt model, the 2020 Bolt EV will achieve up to 259 miles of range on a single electric charge.* If any drivers considering the switch to an all-electric car had range anxiety before, this should certainly quell any concerns.

“The Bolt EV set the benchmark for long-range, affordable electric vehicles, and we’re excited to raise the bar by offering nearly 10 percent more EPA-estimated range for the 2020 model year,” commented Tim Grewe, director of Global Battery Cell Engineering and Strategy. “At Chevrolet we’re constantly listening to customer feedback and we heard the desire for more range.”

The 21-mile improvement was a genius innovation. The company’s battery-engineering team didn’t need to change the physical battery pack or the way that pack was integrated into the Bolt EV’s body structure. Instead, the team was able to manipulate the battery’s cell chemistry slightly. Even the small tweaks improved the energy of the cell electrodes, enabling the range improvement.

*EPA-estimated 259-mile EV range. Your actual range may vary based on several factors including temperature, terrain, and conditions.
