Fall Service Tips for Your Vehicle

As we move into the autumn months and the weather begins to change in North Louisiana, it’s a great time to catch up on service for your vehicle. Here are just a few of the things we can take care of for you this fall here at Courtesy Chevy Buick GMC in Ruston.

Check the headlights

As the days get shorter and the sun sets earlier, you’ll be relying more on your vehicle’s headlights and other lights. Take a few minutes to make sure all of your vehicle’s exterior lights are working properly. If any bulbs are burnt out, the Courtesy service department is here to replace them.

Monitor the battery

After a long, hot summer, it’s a good idea to make sure your battery is still in good shape. Here at Courtesy, we’ll be happy to check whether it’s still holding a charge the way it should. If necessary, we can also install a new battery for you.

Replace your windshield wipers

Have you replaced your vehicle’s windshield wipers recently? It’s a good idea to do this at least once a year, and fall is the perfect time. If your wipers are leaving streaks on the glass or starting to fall apart, it’s especially important to get new ones.

At Courtesy Chevy Buick GMC, we look forward to helping you this fall with these maintenance tasks — or anything else your vehicle needs to run smoothly and look great!

Study Confirms Safety of Hands-Free Super Cruise™ Tech

Super Cruise™ is an exciting new technology that lets owners of certain Cadillac models drive hands-free on over 200,000 miles of highway in North America. Is it safe? According to a recent MIT study, the answer is a resounding yes.

Researchers at MIT wanted to find out if hands-free, or “semi-autonomous,” driving systems make drivers less alert and more distracted. So they used cameras to track the habits of 14 study participants as they drove Cadillac CT6 sedans with built-in Super Cruise™.

Over a month of observation, researchers found that drivers were highly engaged with Super Cruise™. When drivers needed to retake control for maneuvers that the system isn’t designed for, they did so promptly — and often without being prompted — instead of losing focus or misusing the technology.

That’s great news for the future of Super Cruise™, which will soon be available in an enhanced format for the 2022 Cadillac Escalade, Cadillac CT4, and Cadillac CT5. This upgraded version of Super Cruise™ will allow for hands-free lane changes and even trailer towing on properly equipping models.

Cadillac Accepting Reservations for the V-Series Blackwing

The high-performance Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing sedans were unveiled in early February. After giving a first look at the car at the Daytona 500, Cadillac has started accepting reservations. Only 250 models of the gasoline-powered sports sedans will be built for 2022, and with a $1,000 refundable deposit, customers can secure their special car.

To commemorate this occasion, the 250 V-Series Blackwing models will receive a numbered plaque on the high-performance steering wheel that will list the model, transmission, and build sequence. The high-performance steering wheel is standard on the 2022 CT5-V Blackwing and included on the higher trims of the CT4-V Blackwing.

The Cadillac V-Series Blackwing cars have a number of premium features, such as the available carbon fiber seatbacks on the CT5-V Blackwing. The sedans stand out as high-performance vehicles, complete with a standard six-speed manual transmission and an available 10-speed automatic transmission for faster acceleration. The CT5-V Blackwing, equipped with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine, delivers a whopping 668 horsepower and 659 lb-ft of torque. The 2022 CT4-V Blackwing is smaller but just as powerful, with its 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine generating 472 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque.

People who reserved the V-Series Blackwing will be invited to attend a two-day high-performance driving school experience at Cadillac’s V-Series Academy at the Spring Mountain Motor Resort in Pahrump, Nevada.

Even if you didn’t reserve the V-Series Blackwing in time, you can still enjoy the many features that make Cadillac vehicles great with a regular CT4-V or CT5-V. Check out these two high-performance sedans at Courtesy Chevy Buick GMC Cadillac in Rouston, Louisiana.

Cadillac V-Series Blackwing Gets Manual Thanks to 3D Printing

Fans of hands-on driving will be happy to learn that the upcoming Cadillac V-Series Blackwing will get a manual transmission — made possible by 3D printing.

The Cadillac team worked hard to incorporate functional 3D-printed parts in the upcoming V-Series Blackwing models. The 3D-printed parts include two HVAC ducts, an electrical harness bracket, and a unique medallion that will sit on the manual shifter knob. By producing the manual transmission with additive manufacturing, Cadillac was able to reduce costs and waste.

Both the 2022 CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-5 Blackwing will include a six-speed manual transmission as standard and offer a 10-speed automatic transmission as an option. Thanks to this innovative process, the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing will be the only sedan in its segment to offer a manual. The 3D-printed six-speed manual transmission will be quieter and more durable than previous manuals.

Manual transmissions are popular among driving enthusiasts, and knowledge about manual transmission is still prevalent. A recent Harris Poll study shows that 66 percent of American adults surveyed know how to drive a manual, and roughly 40 percent of those who do not know are interested in learning.

The 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-Blackwing will be available starting summer 2021. Ask about reserving yours at Courtesy Chevy Buick GMC Cadillac.

Cadillac CT5 Wins Initial Quality Award

When you purchase a new vehicle, especially a luxury model, you expect it to be made with premium, high-quality materials. However, some vehicles do not live up to these high expectations. One way to discover the best of the best is to check the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study, or IQS. In this year’s results, the 2020 Cadillac CT5 outpaced rivals and was ranked No. 1 among premium midsize sedans.

The IQS surveys the owners of new vehicles and asks them to report on any problems they encountered during the first 90 days of ownership. Each vehicle is then scored on the number of problems experienced for every 100 vehicles. The lower the score, the better the ranking.

This award for the CT5 is even more impressive when you consider that it is the first model year for this vehicle. Brand new models often exhibit more unexpected problems than models that have been on the market for a few years.

Three other Cadillac models also scored at the top of their segments. These include the XT4 as the best in the compact premium SUV segment, the CT6 in the upper midsize premium car group, and the Escalade, which claimed the No. 1 spot among large premium SUVs.
