Fans of hands-on driving will be happy to learn that the upcoming Cadillac V-Series Blackwing will get a manual transmission — made possible by 3D printing.
The Cadillac team worked hard to incorporate functional 3D-printed parts in the upcoming V-Series Blackwing models. The 3D-printed parts include two HVAC ducts, an electrical harness bracket, and a unique medallion that will sit on the manual shifter knob. By producing the manual transmission with additive manufacturing, Cadillac was able to reduce costs and waste.
Both the 2022 CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-5 Blackwing will include a six-speed manual transmission as standard and offer a 10-speed automatic transmission as an option. Thanks to this innovative process, the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing will be the only sedan in its segment to offer a manual. The 3D-printed six-speed manual transmission will be quieter and more durable than previous manuals.
Manual transmissions are popular among driving enthusiasts, and knowledge about manual transmission is still prevalent. A recent Harris Poll study shows that 66 percent of American adults surveyed know how to drive a manual, and roughly 40 percent of those who do not know are interested in learning.

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali will make trailering even better thanks to the addition of Super Cruise technology. The latest version of Super Cruise will introduce the ability to trailer while driving hands-free. As the industry’s first hands-free driver assistance system, Super Cruise contributes to the exceptional trailering capabilities of the GMC Sierra.
With the use of real-time camera, sensors, and GPS, as well as precision LiDAR map data, the Super Cruise driver assistance system is available on more than 200,000 miles of compatible roads in the United States and Canada. When Super Cruise is in operation, a small camera on top of the steering column works with infrared lights to locate where you are looking. If the system senses you have turned your gaze away from the road for too long, it will activate the steering wheel light bar to prompt your attention back to the road.
The addition of Super Cruise makes the 2022 GMC Sierra even stronger and more capable when towing and trailering. It also improves driver confidence when connecting to a trailer, ensuring you can hit the road knowing that the 2022 GMC Sierra has the latest technology to make the trailering process better.
Super Cruise technology is one of the things that gets us excited about the future of cars. Learn more about the GMC Sierra, Super Cruise, and other cool automotive tech at Courtesy Chevy Buick GMC Cadillac.
Your Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck can handle a lot of tough work. While you’re putting your vehicle to the test, it’s also important that you’re operating it properly and carefully. That’s especially true when you’re trailering, which can be dangerous and damaging if done incorrectly. To make sure you’re using your truck correctly around Ruston, Louisiana, here are three must-know towing safety tips.
Inspect your trailer’s condition
Do you give your trailer the same attentiveness that you give your pickup truck? When’s the last time you looked for signs of rust underneath or checked the tires’ tread depth? Every time you plan to hitch up your trailer, RV, or camper, you need to perform rigorous pre- and post-travel inspections. Look for any unusual or alarming signs, and have those fixed before hitting the road.
Know your truck’s limits
Your truck can only handle so much strain, so it’s important you don’t push it past its limits and permanently damage it. Check the vehicle’s owner’s manual or door jamb info plaque for that information. You can also calculate that number by subtracting the truck’s curb weight from the Gross Combined Vehicle Weight Rating.
Watch your surroundings
Having a trailer in tow essentially doubles or sometimes even triples the length of your vehicle, so you have to be extra attentive to what’s in your vicinity. Always use your mirrors and make sure you leave plenty of space when changing lanes or turning.
New GM models have tools that can help you better monitor your surroundings, such as the best-in-class camera technology on the Chevrolet Silverado, using 8 available cameras that give you up to 15 unique views.

Start 2021 off right by making these New Year’s resolutions for your vehicle so it has a healthy, happy year too!
Schedule seasonal oil changes
Engine oil flushes and filter changes are vital for your vehicle’s health. This year, start scheduling oil changes every season as part of your car’s regular maintenance schedule. Don’t delay those oil changes for longer than the Courtesy Chevrolet Buick GMC technicians recommend.
Monitor and rotate the tires
It’s easy to neglect your car’s tires until a flat or puncture occurs. You can prevent those dangerous situations by checking the tread depth and air pressure every week. If either look low, bring your car in for service.
And when you’re having the engine oil changed, get the tires rotated too. That will also help slow their deterioration.
Never drive with depleted fluids
Your car has many fluids it uses to operate properly, and all those liquids should be filled up to their “fill” lines. This includes the wiper fluid, transmission fluid, coolant, and power steering fluid. Look under the hood every month and refill them as needed.
It’s important that you follow a regular maintenance schedule for your car every year. That’s the best way to ensure your vehicle operates properly for years to come. Performing these three tasks is the best way to jump-start that maintenance, so contact Courtesy Chevrolet Buick GMC to schedule your first auto checkup of 2021.
